Error Loading Vertex AI Prompt - Tracking Number: c8560245403438355

I'm encountering an error while loading a Vertex AI prompt in the Google Cloud Console. The error message is: "There was an error while loading /vertex-ai/generative/language/locations/us-central1/prompts/590104#######2?chat=true&project=gen-lang-client-030######87. Please try again. It may be a browser or network issue. Go to the loading issues help page to troubleshoot the issue."

I've already tried the troubleshooting steps outlined in the loading issues help page, but the problem persists. The prompt loaded just fine yesterday but all of a sudden, I have this error all through today.

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this error before and might have a solution. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the Google Cloud Community.

I have gone through your reported issue, however it seems like this is an issue observed specifically at your end. It would need more specific debugging and analysis. To ensure a faster resolution and dedicated support for your issue, I kindly request you to file a support ticket by clicking here. Our support team will prioritize your request and provide you with the assistance you need.

For individual support issues, it is best to utilize the support ticketing system. We appreciate your cooperation!

Hello @jaia, I am unable to log a support case because the system says "You don't have permission to file tech-related support cases for projects/gen-lang-client-0304967187."

Meanwhile in the IAM of the project, I have ownership permission and I even added tech support role as another permission but could not log my ticket.

Here is a screenshot of the issue I am facing in the project in case this helps

Do you have Support Tier higher than basic ? If no, you will not be able to create technical tickets to support. However, if you have different support tier than basic, you should have assigned Tech Support Editor (roles/cloudsupport.techSupportEditor) role to your principal, THEN you will be able to send a ticket via Support page.

I have the same problem, did you find out what is the issue?

I am experiencing the same issue and will be quite specific about how to recreate it. The observations below apply when tested on two different Google accounts with entirely different Workspace domains.

In Vertex AI, I am able to save any prompt in a text-only chat and then reopen it from the Prompt Management tab without issue.

However, as soon as I upload anything (PDF, text file, etc.) and try to save after that, I receive an error stating: "Prompt saved but failed to update history." Thereafter, when attempting to reload the prompt from the Prompt Management tab, I receive the error message: "There was an error while loading..." similar to the error mentioned in this thread.

This occurs after uploading any kind of data and does *not* occur prior to that (so long as the Vertex AI prompt workspace remains text-only without any uploading). The issue occurs when attempting to save after any small upload (e.g., single PDF page) and also after a large upload (of a million+ tokens). The resultant behavior is the same. This issue also occurs on the two browsers I have tried, and in incognito mode, and on mobile.

My account is not eligible for the affordable customer service plans and we are not able to pay $15,000 for support. On behalf of those struggling with this issue, which prevents our fully utilizing this wonderful and much appreciated technology, I ask for a close look at the issue from Google's tech teams and information on resolution.

Thank you so much!  -Justin

I have the same problem. Last week I had a prompt that wouldn't open. But this week almost all the prompts failed to open and all got the message "There was an error while loading /vertex-ai/studio/saved-prompts/..."

I noticed that the prompts that couldn't open all showed Media status as Yes, which means I uploaded PDF files for my work in these prompts.

I hope Google will soon fix this inconvenience for users.

@DavidNguyen :

Thank you. This mirrors my experience.

@GoogleCloud_Support @VertexAI @GeminiAI @jaia @RobertKubis @MeteAtamel @AbiramiSukumaran @BhushanGarware @SteveMcGhee :

Two more things to note:

1. All prompts in the Prompt Management tab have disappeared in Vertex AI for my account; and,

2. I  am noticing multiple chat workspaces erroring out even in Google Gemini Advanced (in addition to Vertex AI). In Gemini Advanced, once I upload any data, the chat workspace will return a “something went wrong” error or similar in response to any subsequent user input in the chat dialogue. Before data is uploaded in the chat, everything works smoothly. The error insofar as I have observed is associated with Gemini’s behavior following data uploads; it appears to generalize to the Gemini model in both the Vertex AI and Gemini Advanced interfaces.

I hope this helps those able to diagnose and find a solution to this pervasive issue.  -Justin

I have a similar problem.  For me, my prompts where Media is set to Yes all work fine, but when the Media is set to No, I get the "something went wrong" error.

I have not changed anything since my prompts were successfully running.  Last time I used them about a month ago, they worked fine.  Now when I try to use them they don't work.  I didn't change anything.

Would be great if Google could fix this.

*This error went away after a couple weeks in my case. I hope it does the
same for you!*
