My users were able to use Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Exp 01-21 yesterday, so I informed my users that the update was ready. However, when I checked again today, the model doesn't even appear on model garden. It says "Error project "..." is not allowed to use Publisher Model"
Same for me, here is the exact error since this morning (it was working fine yesterday):
{
"error": {
"code": 400,
"message": "Project `XXX` is not allowed to use Publisher Model `projects/XXX/locations/us-central1/publishers/google/models/gemini-2.0-flash-thinking-exp-01-21`",
"status": "FAILED_PRECONDITION"
}
}
And when we follow this link: https://console.cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/publishers/google/model-garden/gemini-2.0-flash-thinking-...
We are redirected to the Gemini 1.5 Pro page without warning…!
Same here.
The model page: https://console.cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/publishers/google/model-garden/gemini-2.0-flash-thinking-...
redirects to Gemini 1.5 Pro.
It's unacceptable that the model was shut down without any warning. This has caused multiple reports from my users, and GCP need to address this issue immediately.
I understand that Google has removed some older models, but I'm perplexed as to why they would remove a model that's relatively recent and functions so well.
Hi, @EmirTA.
It's an experimental model so that it is still under development and might not be available to all users or could have limitations in functionality. Please, reach out to Google Cloud support to confirm if your account should have access to this model and further investigation.
Regards,
Mokit
Yes, I understand that there might be some issues with accessing the experimental models, but recently Google has made Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking available for everyone to use, and it is still available as an API on aistudio.google.com. It is truly frustrating that it was added to GCP and then removed. Based on my tests on my own projects, the 2.0 pro is performing worse than the 2.0 Flash Thinking.
