Google DocumentAI Custom Extractor - occurrences of labels

Hi,

I'm currently training a Google DocAI custom extractor on multi-page documents. I've specified some of my fields in my custom schema as numbers and occurring "Optional once". However, when I use the auto-labeler, it will find these fields multiple times throughout the document, and not necessarily as numbers ($500 vs 500 for example). 

Does the occurrence of a field specify to the entire document or on each document page? For example, if I specify a field in my custom schema to be optional once, is it optional once throughout the whole doc or on each page? Throughout this training process, I am getting the impression it's the latter, which is not what I want.

I have a very similar issue it gives me multiple answers which is complex to manage.
