If you're encountering an "access restricted" error in MakerSuite despite being accepted to the waitlist, there might be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Check Your Account Status

Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

Check Email Confirmation

Contact Support

Verify Waitlist Status

Check for Maintenance or Outages

User Permissions

Retry Later

 Hi,

Did any of these actually fix the issue? They didn't help me

I keep getting 403 - Access denied when trying to access MakerSuite

Same here. I set up billing and activated all of the relevant apis as well, still not working.

Step 1Step 1Step 2Step 2if using google wokspace account and have admin access, you just need to enable:

1. at the search box once you are logged in to google workspace, type "core data access permissions", select option that prompts with the same name and enable check box next to "Allow users at your organization to access Google Workspace and Customer Data using Early Access apps." then click Save

2. Within google workspace panel go to "Apps>Additional Google Services and look for the "early access services" option, enable it to all users in your organization (if that's what you want) and click save.

After I completed these 2 steps I was finally able to access makersuite

Good Luck!

Mikus79, you’re a rockstar! Your #1 suggestion is what changed the game for me! #2 was turned on previously, and now I can move past the wall. Thanks again!!!

I received the same advice from GSuite support, but unfortunately, it didn't resolve the issue for me! When I reported this back (with all the screenshots, HAR files and the screen recordings), they closed with the explanation that 'MarketSuite is not a GA product' - very, very disappointing! I'm beginning to suspect there might be a bug impacting users outside of the US. Could someone please escalate this to the Makersuite Dev team?

Is uploading plaintext passwords to GitHub one of the reasons for inaccessibility?I simply cannot access it after the push is complete.

Same here. Did anyone managed to find the solution or motive?

I've figured it out - we don't need MakerSuite. That was a misleading ask by Google. You can generate the API key directly from the Google Console at https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials. Just restrict it to the 'Generative Language API'. I've also enabled four additional services for broader functionality: Cloud AI Companion API, Cloud Document AI API, Contact Center AI Insights API, and Vertex AI API.

Once you have the API key, assign it to the GOOGLE_API_KEY environment variable. This should make most programs operational.

If you encounter an error stating 'User location is not supported for the API use', this indicates that the service isn't available in your region. For example, I had to use a VPN proxy to fake my country is US in order to run the Gemini samples (https://ai.google.dev/tutorials/python_quickstart) because this latest model is not yet available in Canada.

Hi there,

Got the same problem, and resolve this way:

1. ....the untold part, beside all that you have to enable data acess

2. Admin console, type early access

3. Go to data access

4. Check Allow ...

Now you have full access.

If you're consistently getting an "access restricted" error on the makersuite dashboard despite being accepted to the waitlist, try clearing your browser cache, using a different browser or device, and confirming your waitlist acceptance. If the issue persists, contact makersuite support for assistance.
