Product Recognizer BatchAnalyze Taking Forever

Hi community, it's my first time using Product Recognizer from Vertex and I'm running into a major problem.

I have added roughly 16,000 products to a catalog complete with images for each one. I have also created an index and an endpoint. I haven't created any ProductSets, I just want to query the entire catalog.

I then started a BatchAnalyze operation on a single image, expecting a fast result. However, it took about 15 minutes.

Surely it shouldn't take this long to analyze a single image? If it takes this long, it won't be suitable for my use case. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

Hi @stars

Thank you for reaching out to our community.

I get that you wanted to Product Recognizer to analyze your images faster since you have a lot of products.

Top of mind, this may be caused by a few possible reasons:

  • The image that you have used is large or complex hence processing is taking longer than usual
  • The image that you have used might be containing lots of objects hence analyzing takes longer time
  • Your machine setup might need to be boosted to perform better during analysis operations
  • Vertex AI might be having a temporary issue at the time causing some latency but it will resolve on its own.

Kindly review this Image batch processing document to be sure you are following the right steps.

Hope this helps.
