Running into "verify domain ownership" issue when creating search engine in AI App Builder

Hello,

I started to play with Gen AI App Builder and wanted to create a search engine using several websites, when creating the App it asked me to verify that I am the owner of those domains, but I am not the owner as these are public websites that I want to index and search.

Does this solution only work for domains owned by the developer?

Thanks

If you're encountering a "verify domain ownership" issue when creating a search engine in an AI App Builder, it likely means that the platform you are using requires you to verify that you own the domain associated with the search engine. This is a common security measure to ensure that only authorized individuals or organizations can create search engines for specific domains.

The ability to create a search engine using the Gen AI App Builder or any similar platform can vary depending on the platform's policies and capabilities. In some cases, these platforms may require you to verify domain ownership as a security and legal measure to ensure that you have the rights to index and search content on those domains. This is done to prevent unauthorized web scraping and indexing of websites. And if you are trying to create a search engine that indexes and searches content from public websites that you do not own, you may encounter limitations or restrictions depending on the platform you are using. Here are a few considerations:

1. Review the terms of service and policies of the AI App Builder platform you are using. These policies may outline the specific requirements and limitations regarding the use of the platform for indexing external websites.

2. Ensure that you are abiding by legal and ethical standards when indexing and using content from external websites. Unauthorized web scraping and indexing can potentially violate copyright and privacy laws. Make sure you have the necessary permissions or rights to use the content in your search engine.

3. If the platform you are using does not support indexing external websites without domain ownership verification, you may need to explore alternative solutions or tools that are designed for web scraping and indexing, keeping in mind legal and ethical considerations.

It's important to note that creating a search engine that indexes public websites without domain ownership can be a complex and potentially legally sensitive task. Always consider the terms of service, legal implications, and ethical standards when attempting to create such a search engine.
