Start Page = Data stores

Could someone please explain this section on Dialog. I accessed this by clicking on "Start Page" and then "Edit data stores" from the dropdown. I noticed that my agent retrieves information only from the particular data stores selected here; that. is, I can only select e.g., one "Unstructured documents" data store. My agent will not retrieve information from other non-selected "Unstructured documents" data stores even though they are connected to the agent. Does this mean an agent can only retrieve information from one single "Unstructured documents" data store? I don't see an option here to select multiple "Unstructured documents" data stores. Or maybe I don't understand.

It seems like you're working with a system that involves data stores, possibly in the context of conversational agents or AI systems, and you're dealing with how these agents retrieve data from various stores.

Based on your description, here’s what might be happening:

  1. Data Store Selection Limitation: The platform or tool you're using allows your agent to retrieve information from a specific type of data store, like "Unstructured documents." However, when configuring the agent, it seems you're only able to select one data store at a time.

  2. Agent Data Retrieval Behavior: This means that when your agent is running, it will only retrieve information from the specific "Unstructured documents" data store that you've selected, even if there are multiple other unstructured data stores connected to your system. Essentially, the agent is not set to access more than one at once in the current setup.

  3. Limitation on Multiple Selections: You noted that there's no option to select multiple unstructured document data stores. This could be a design limitation, where the system intentionally restricts access to only one data store of a given type at a time to simplify the data retrieval process or ensure more precise control over which documents are being queried.

Possible Solutions or Clarifications:

  • Single Data Store Limitation: If the system is truly limited to one "Unstructured documents" data store, you would need to select the most relevant one for your agent's current task. If you need data from multiple stores, you'd have to switch between them manually.

  • Potential for Multiple Data Stores: If you feel there should be a way to select multiple stores but you’re not seeing the option, it might be worth exploring the platform's documentation or reaching out to support. There could be advanced configuration options or permissions that need to be enabled to allow multiple store selection.

Hi sahilnaircool - You explain the situation very well - better than me. Perhaps you are right. Perhaps it is not Dialogflow CX that is my problem but in how i have configured the Agent Data Retrieval Behaviour at the time I initially formed the AI agent. I may have to form a new agent but so it goes. I hope the system is not truly limited to one "Unstructured documents" data store. But I need to explore more. Thank you for your prompt reply and great suggestions. Take care.
