VM Instance of T4/L4 Unavailable

Every time I create an instance of a T4/L4 GPU instance I'm met with this message: A n1-standard-1 VM instance with 1 nvidia-tesla-t4 accelerator(s) is currently unavailable in the us-west2-b zone. Alternatively, you can try your request again with a different VM hardware configuration or at a later time. For more information, see the troubleshooting documentation.

I've tried it in multiple areas to no avail. I'm going to swap to Azure because of this.

Hi @googlewhy,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

It seems like you’re running into common issues on GCE. This happens whenever a specific zone is experiencing high resource demand.

Here are the resource recommendations or workarounds that you can try on your end.

  • Try different configurations of instances.
  • Try different regions and zones to deploy instances.
  • Try at a different time or days to deploy instances.

In addition, you can further check the documentation about the availability of regions and zones. The documentation can help you determine which specific machine type can be deployed in regions and zones. If you’re planning to try different machine types with GPUs, at first you must ensure you have GPUs available in your project. By doing that, you can check your GPU quota on the Quota Page.

Lastly, you can check a feature called Reservation . Reservations provide a very high level of assurance in obtaining capacity for Compute Engine zonal resources. You can use reservations to help ensure that your project has resources for future increases in demand.

If the issue still persists and you need further assistance, you can file a ticket with our support team.
