cannot use A100(80gb) despite having the quota

I have the quota to use the A100 (80gb) in US-central-1 so I am trying to use it to create a user-managed notebook in vertex ai to do some deep learning. However, I get this error message:

Could not create notebook: Invalid value at 'runtime.virtual_machine.virtual_machine_config.accelerator_config.type' (type.googleapis.com/google.cloud.notebooks.v1.RuntimeAcceleratorConfig.AcceleratorType), "NVIDIA_A100_80GB"

Would really appreciate any help because I have a deadline soon!

I can only think of two possible reasons aside from the quota, one is regional/ zone availability and the other is account permission. 

Consider looking into these documents as it can provide you with useful insights:

• Local SSD availability by GPU regions and zones
• A2 ultra machine types
• A2 ultra limitations
• NVIDIA A100 GPUs

Ensure that your account or project has the needed permission to create instances with A2 accelerator. You can also check the Vertex AI Workbench troubleshooting guide and reach out to Vertex AI support if needed.
