I am working for a client, where they had on-prem looker instance with 4 different environment (Dev, PQA, UAT & Prod). They want to move now from on-prem to Looker Google Managed Instance i.e., Looker (Google Cloud Core). We have worked out the migration steps now the only point remaining is how to connect their on-prem gitlab repository to looker google managed instance.
Also whole this migration take place there will be a point where there will be dashboards live in both production environment old vs new looker instance. Will there be any charges associated with it.
If anyone has any idea/solution please let me know. Thanks.
It should be fine to keep both instances up for a few weeks while you complete the migration - the Looker account team should confirm this for you.
On the other point, Looker can absolutely connect to an on-prem git repo - just follow the normal instructions here. The only condition is that the repo needs to be accessible to the Looker instance, so there may be some networking/firewall configuration needed for this.
