Using BitBucket Server for Version Control in Looker

Subject: Assistance with LookerML Project and BitBucket Server Connectivity

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of setting up a new LookerML project using BitBucket Server as my Git repository. However, I’m experiencing connectivity issues while trying to establish this connection.

I have searched the community for documentation but have found only outdated resources and several URLs that have been removed. I would greatly appreciate any support or recent documentation you could provide to help me resolve this issue.

Thank you!

Regards,

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing connectivity issues while connecting BitBucket Server as your Git repository for your LookML project.  Are you able to share a bit more about the behavior that you are experiencing?  Can you also please confirm that you are looking to connect BitBucket Server and not BitBucket Cloud or BitBucket Data Center? Were you able to connect and the connection itself is intermittent, or are you unable to connect and have an error message that you could share?

Hi @Kirbs , thanks for reaching out..

I am using Bitbucket Server hosted on-premises. My Looker instance is Google-hosted, and I am trying to set up a Git connection using the SSH URL provided: "ssh://git@mybitbucket.mydomain.com:7999/myrepo/pro_looker.git". Connection failed.

Thanks for sharing those details, I appreciate it.  Does Looker have access to the network that is hosting your BitBucket?

Yes. We can reach the Looker Instance from our On-premises network.

Thanks - however Looker being reachable from your on-premises network doesn't quite answer the question.  Can Looker access your Bitbucket?  Since your Bitbucket is hosted on a private network this requires specific effort to enable that ingress traffic.

Is there any documentation available on the specific configuration? Perhaps specific IP addresses for the Google Looker instance that need to be whitelisted in the firewalls?
