looker Studio: connect to database in Google cloud internally?

Hello All,

I have a setup where I have a Mariadb install on a vm in Google Cloud. Some applications like Mydbr that are also on vm's on GCP connect to Mariadb via internal netwerk. So far the Maradb vm did not need an external ip address and I slept very well at night.

Then came looker studio. As far as I can tell in order to be able to connect from Looker studio OR Looker studio pro, I will need to give the vm an external ip address. Off course I can secure it with ssl/tls.

Is this correct? Is there another way?

Hello All,

because I am concerned about security, I would like to ask again if anyone has any insight in ths.

As far as I can tell in order to use Looker Studio I have to open up my database to basicaly the world.

Any advice would be appreciated.
