Does APIGEE X eval org charges anything?

Hi Team,

I just wanted some clarification on APIGEE X eval org.
In the docs its specified as APIGEE itself wont charges anything but some APIs used by the organization do; for example, the Compute Engine API.

Document Reference

May I check what all APIs that are charged for APIGEE X eval setup and how much does it cost (Any average amount)

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Teja

Thanks for sharing your doubts at the Apigee forum.

Usually Evaluation Organization does not incur charges against your account; nevertheless, there are some APIs that could, and that will depend on what you're looking for. Your organization entitlement will determine this.

Organization entitlements depend upon either the paid organization uses a Subscription or Pay-as-you-go pricing model.

For instance, if you use a “Pay-as-you-go pricing model” you can calculate the approximate cost by using the Google Cloud pricing calculator: https://cloud.google.com/products/calculator?hl=en

For instance (in pay-as-you-go prices reference)

Standard API Proxy calls (per 1M API calls) in “Base-Intermediate-Comprehensive environments” could cost from: $20 (up to 50M calls) to $1213 (>500calls)

Hello! That's correct, APIGEE won't charge you anything, but other services involved might. Here's a breakdown of services involved in the eval architecture:

  • APIGEE X: By default, a free evaluation of Apigee is available for 60 days.
  • Cloud Logging: By default, Admin Activity audit logs and System Event audit logs are always free.
  • Cloud Identity: By default, the free edition of Cloud Identity provides 50 user licenses.
  • Networking: In order to access the platform runtime, a Cloud Network (VPC) will need to be established to ensure connectivity. Other network components such as load balancers, and Private Service Connect are required. Networking has variable pricing based on the services consumed:
    • Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and VPC Peering are always free
    • Network Internet Egress (Traffic leaving Google's network) - variable pricing
    • HTTPS Load Balancing - variable pricing
    • Private Service Connect (PSC) - variable pricing
    • Managed Instance Group (MIG) - variable pricing
    • Depending on your APIGEE deployment model, you would either have a PSC or MIG, but in general the cost is very minimal. If you are worried, you can setup billing alerts  to avoid surprises.

Thanks for jumping in and helping to clarify @vmartucci
