I have built several applications for different companies, however, when companies invest development time in this platform they ask about the possibility of Appsheet ceasing to exist, as has happened with other Google tools.
Does anyone know what guarantees the continuity of Appsheet?
This is something I was just thinking! Especially after seeing another post re Appsheet not being updated much recently.
I'm at the start of my Appsheet journey and looking to create business apps for some companies, however what would happen if Appsheet is suddenly discontinued?
I don't think anyone here can give guarantees re Appsheet, so can I ask what happens to your projects if it did get shutdown? Do you have it covered in your terms and conditions or have you discussed it with your clients?
No one can or will give you guarantees on this. When I brought AppSheet into our business I looked at all the other no code applications and settled on AppSheet due to its offline sync feature which others didn't have.
I was concerned about Google shutting AppSheet down as they do with many of the companies/divisions that they own, but they (Google) rarely shuts down paid for features as long as it is profitable.
The most notable exception to this is Stadia which was paid for.
Edit: I have just noticed whilst looking for Cloud Storage that AppSheet is now part of Google Workspace which gives me more confidence that it is not going anywhere anytime soon.
It really is a topic that makes you think a lot, I have seen several conversations about it here, but none that conclude satisfactorily.
I have tried to ensure that my clients understand and accept this panorama. It is also important that they accept the terms and conditions of Google AppSheet, however, it is difficult to know what will happen.
Yes, it would definitely be nice to get a guarantee from Google for at least 20 years or so... I think about this all the time. I wouldn't mind Google doubling the price if they can promise that.
As with ANY company, AppSheet could shutter at any time. There are NO GUARANTEES!!
As someone who has been developing in the platform since 2016, I believe AppSheet will be around for the foreseeable future and beyond. Google has placed a lot of focus on updating to the new Desktop and integrating into the Google tech stack (Workspace, etc). AppSheet is a strong development platform when compared to other similar products and I can see great things that Google could do with AppSheet.
โโAppsheet has weaker strategy was once a leader. Past one year I have moved from being optimistic to believing they are going to shut down. Just by seeing how they operate and respond to everything. Action speaks louder than words!
It'll be here for a while.
Keep calm and AppSheet on. ๐ช
I was looking on Googles Graveyard to get an idea what Google usually terminates. And AppSheet is definitely not one of them. The only dead thing I found close to AppSheet was AngularJs. But Angular still exists, had a great time after and still is on the leader-boards .
So for my opinion the only thing that could possibly happen is a complete rewrite of AppSheet to new whatever standards where you can possibly port your old projects to.
You missed one, then:
AppSheet replaced App Maker.
The reason could be due to Appsheet's development and technical team.
They move forward slower than a snail.
Lately, I'm thinking they're dedicating a lot of time to behind-the-scenes code. I've noticed a lot of subtle changes to Expression Assistant, for instance. That's not a trivial feature to work on, I imagine. There are a lot of glaring problems I'd like them to fix, but I do appreciate some of these more obscure refinements, too.
Community is here help with expressions. But when it comes vital features requirements we cannot get support anywhere ...
Example
Chart View
Input Function
Queuing the bots etc.
Many to Many Relationship
These really needed for all users and developers.
When the ship is damaged... Painting a portion will not save it from sinking. Damage has to be repaired.
I have used Appsheet before google take. On that time I stop using appsheet because I feel It might not the best tool for no code app. But once google take Appsheet in, I think they can be the same with Microsoft power app. As concept that developer by small team to resolve the problem within department should be created by themselves. Google workspace has Appsheet. Microsoft has power app. I think Appsheet future still bright.
@devingu JUST WANTED TO ASK IF YOU GUYS REALLY SERIOUS ? It's not just about this ticket; we receive copy-pasted responses for months. What is the specialist actually doing? Is the person handling this truly fit for their job if it takes them so long to respond? We're running a business, and this is unacceptable. I can't believe this is happening with Google.
Im going with Forms & Sheets until I see a response from Appsheet in this thread-And I was seriously looking to make a beginning with Appsheet!
