Date Format when using .xlsx Template

I am using a .xlsx template as an email attachment template. The column named "Date", in which the column type is Date, results to a numerical date value in the .xlsx email attachment instead of mm/dd/yyyy format. How can I have it result in mm/dd/yyyy format in the .xlsx file attachment ?
