Interpretation for Delta sync

Delta sync

Only update tables that have changed since the last sync. This makes syncing faster, but can't be used in certain cases (e.g., spreadsheets with external formulas, or when virtual columns need to be updated at each sync).

Hello darlings

A question of interpretation. Help me please!!

What does the description of this synchronization function (Delta sync) mean? Which of the two interpretations is correct?

1. That this option cannot be activated under any circumstances when we have a table with virtual columns, etc.?

2. Or that this function will have no effect on tables that contain virtual columns?

Suppose you have two tables:

  1. One table where users add entries for example for quantities of a product added to an inventory.
  2. Another table where you have virtual columns or spreadsheet formulas that calculate the sum of all quantities per product.

When you have Delta Sync, only the tables that are updated will be synced. So when a user add a new row to the first table, this change will be synced. The second table however will remain as is; because virtual columns and spreadsheet formulas get recalculated only upon a new sync, and since you only sync tables that have changed (i.e the first table), the values of virtual columns or those with spreadsheet formulas in the second table will remain unchanged and will not update taking into account the new row in the first table, because a new sync didn't happen for that table.
