Is it possible to zoom in on a DRAWING column inside a FORM

Hi,

Could someone please advise if it is possible to zoom in on a DRAWING column inside a FORM.

I have a drawing type column that points to a full scale office floorplan.

I'd like the user to zoom into a single room on the floorplan and then mark-up the image.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for a speedy response @AleksiAlkio... Can you think of a workaround that would allow me to zoom in and view a single room on the floorplan... Perhaps I could do something like use an XY column first, to view the image and zoom in, then screenshot it and use that in a drawing column...?

What about if you have all rooms individually and then you furst select which room the drawing column should show?

Thanks buddy... I can see how that might work, but in my use case I have way too many rooms across many floorplans, repeated across many sites,  to make this practical.

Do you know if it's possible to convert the output of an XY column that I'm currently using for the floorplan, to an image output so that I can use that zoomed-in view for the drawing column...?

Or...

Is it possible to use SNAPSHOT to get there...?

SNAPSHOT() only shows the view through the Bot, not a solution for this. Using the XY and taking a screenshot after the zooming, is the only solution I can think of in your case.

The drawing column is such a useful feature, and it will be fantastic when it gets an upgrade.

If you're using a floor plan, I guess the best way to do that in a form view is to work with XY column type, if I'm not mistaken you'll be able to zoom in and out and this is the best choice for layouts and designs like you said.

Hi @peterson... Thanks for the link to the app... My app works in more or less the same way...

The thing I'm attempting to do a little differently is have a drawing column, that shows a floorplan, so that the surveyor can zoom into a particular room, just like you can with the XY column, but then they could hand-draw a line on the floorplan to mark out a cable route through the room.

The challenge is that the floor plan has many rooms and without being able to zoom into a room, the hand-drawn line would be quite useless.

As suggested by @AleksiAlkio, my current workaround (to the drawing column limitations) is to use an XY column for the floorplan, pinch to zoom in, then use the device to physically take a screenshot of the zoomed-in room, edit it in the camera roll to crop the edges, save it in the camera roll, then use a drawing column to retrieve it and draw the line.

It's not quick or pretty, but it will work.

I'm hoping someone will suggest a smoother workflow.

In the meantime, I'll get on with building this.
