Searching with dependent dropdowns

I currently have a dependent dropdown that pulls in a list of product categories/groups; each group has an associated list of products. When I select my product group in the dropdown I have the ability to search within it, however I don’t have the same ability in the product dropdown.

I have enabled these columns to both be searchable, is there any other way to enable this feature?
