Delete bucket blocked by copyright request

Hi there!

Advice us, please.

Some time ago we developed a service, that allowed some internet media sites make "mirrors" of articles they had published on their sites to GC storage bucket (and give clients mirror links alongside with "usual".

Some of the customers accidentally overlooked how their lawyers filed a copyright abuse to google, and as result, the whole bucket was restricted from us (starting from admins/programmers to even accounnt owner).

We can neither list it's content, nor even delete the bucket at all (nobody of us).

We had already set up backend to another bucket, and even transferred the new bucket (and even the code repository) to another owners, but this bucket is still persists on our account and we can't delete it anyhow.

We also can't reach the support (we already wasted the price of one month of support to meaningless (and practically useless) conversations, as result we only received a few letters that *some* files on that bucket was unblocked, but we are still unable to perform ANY (neither list content, nor delete the whole bucket) action with it, even having "owner" and all possible "related" permissions 🤔
Can you advice, please, what can we do (excluding wasting one more month support price to additional useless conversations)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @mva_name,

Welcome to the Google Cloud Community!

You should take a look at this documentation about the DMCA Policy for Customers of Our Customers.

Once Google receives a notice that a content hosted in Google Cloud Storage has an alleged copyright infringement, It will take necessary actions such as complying with the applicable international intellectual property law. Google will remove or disable access to that content subject to applicable laws and give notice to the account holder.

If you are in the U.S., you can send a counter notification in pursuant to sections 521(g)(2) and (3) of the DMCA, GCP may reinstate access to the content. If there is no counter notification received from the owner within 10 days, GCP will be forced to permanently delete the content.

For information on the requirements of a counter notification, you should check Google Legal Help

Let me know if it helped, thanks!

Actually, it is about a half a year since that happened already, and still bucket can't even be deleted...

And, unfortunatelly, no, nobody of us is in U.S.

Moreover technically that content wasn't owned by us. So, that lawyers, which filed DMCA had more powers here. Even despite the content in question was saved to us by their client themself.

Anyway, we already declined the project and transferred all the code to another team, and all we want now is to drop this bucket away. But even product owner is unable to do this, as GCP complains that there is not enough permissions. But, as I said, we had already added all possible "owner" and "admin" related permissions to product owner and even to few other people in the team.

And still none of them is able to delete the bucket...
