Seeking a Practical 3–4 Month Roadmap to Become a Data Engineer as a Fresher

Can anyone guide me on how to become a Data Engineer as a fresher? I’ve searched multiple sites and tried tools like Gemini and ChatGPT, but the roadmaps they provide seem too lengthy—almost impossible to complete in one year. It feels like I’ll need a 'dusra janam' to finish everything! 😅 If someone could share a practical roadmap that’s achievable within 3–4 months, I’d be truly grateful

Hey,

It feels like a ton of information to process when you are trying to get into Data engineering and related stuff. But don’t stress! From my experience, you can do it in 3-4 months by focused learning and a clear plan.

Here's what I’d suggest:

  • Master SQL – Firstly, it’s really important for any data role. Nail the basics: SELECT, JOIN, and GROUP BY.
  • Choose Python next – Super handy for automating boring tasks.
  • Explore data warehouses – BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift. Choose one and go deeper into how it works.
  • Build real projects – Grab data from ads, social media, or CRM, clean it, and dump it into a warehouse.

Data integration is not an easy task. Especially when you are pulling it from different sources.

Hope it helps you!

Hi, @GenerativeCraft

It's quite challenging to suggest or mentor someone on becoming a Data Engineer without understanding their foundational knowledge or background. Becoming a skilled Data Engineer within 3 to 4 months is difficult, not impossible but it requires breaking through many learning barriers. By the way, have you checked this site: https://roadmap.sh/?
