Losing my post after logging in

So I see this question, hit reply, write an elaborate post/response and click "post reply". Too bad: A message about  needing to log in, I do so and there is an error an my post is gone. 😖

Why doesn't this community ask me FIRST to log in once I click reply, instead of letting my type first with the rist of losing my input?
