Hey, lately I have discovered Google Cloud and all its features, realized it suited all my current needs in one of the projects I have been working on, created an account, got organization bonus credits which i thought was really cool, sadly as the title says I encountered some errors which did not let me fully use all of GCP features. Starting off by that whenever I try to increase "GPU (all regions)" quota y see that I can only upgrade to a range of "0 to 0" saying my account does not meet the requirements (48h + account with paid billing). So contacted support, small chat and basically they could do nothing and linked me to sales team..., there is where all gets worse. Fyi when I discovered GCP I saw how easy it was to start using a GPU and that it was affordable enough for my project (also free credits which really hook you up), saw tons of videos od guys even using GPU workstations to play, it being a 4 clicks max process to require a GPU, apparently its not.
I contacted sales team for a 1 quota upgrade of the GPU all regions, turned out to be a 1hr chat, which did not help at all, had to a member of sales, which did not ease anything since he was just an intermediate, thought it was worth a try however, then received a mail requesting a meeting at 2am on a wednesday, responded with a solid no, and questioned why would I need to have another chat to answer same question but on a google meeting, no response back ever, ended there.
My question here is: Why on all the posts of this forum, videos, blogs and etc, it seems as such a easy process, minutes long, but turned out to be an entire adventure for me?.
Thanks for reading, hope anyone can amswer my doubts.
Unfortunately, your different experience using Google Cloud services could have been caused by limitations of the free trial:
Your Free Trial credits apply to all Google Cloud resources, including Google Maps Platform usage, but with the following exceptions:
You can't add GPUs to your VM instances.
You can't request a quota increase. For an overview of Compute Engine quotas, see Resource quotas.
Even though a payment method is required for starting the free trial, billing is not enabled during the trial unless you manually upgrade to a paid account. Upgrading is quick, and does not void remaining free credits nor interrupt your services if done within the trial period.
I have already upgraded to a paid account, Im still unable to request higher quota.
Thank you for confirming. In this scenario, you must continue communicating directly with Google Cloud support, as this is the only and proper way to internally diagnose any possible issue with your project or account. Since you upgraded from the free tier by enabling billing, you will be able to create a support case directly from the GCP console.
I am not able to request help through cases, it asks me to buy a 29$ USD package.
I don't understand whats the issue with GCP, support entirely ghosted me, everyone seems to be able to use GPU instances but me.
Since you intend to request a higher quota for Compute Engine (in this case GPU quota), the Standard support package would be the appropriate support channel to use. This is so that your project and account can be accounted for by support during investigation. The help you could receive through these Cloud Community Forums is limited in this regard.
I am having almost exactly same issue. I was able to use GPU during free trial after I upgraded to a paid account. After the free trial the GPU was also available. That was until the day when I decided to switch from a personal to a business billing account. Since then my GPU quota went down to 0. I have had multiple chats and a call with Sales at - surprise - 2am on Wednesday last week. I was told my case should be solved within 2 days. It has been over a week and no success. The day before yesterday a lady from Sales sent an email to me, stating there had been some problems, but now it is fine and I should get unlocked shortly. Until today, literally nothing has changed. My case looks to not have been worked on and my questions about the status end up with silence.
Hello Hath,
I have literally the exact same issue here and have been struggling with it for a while. I also followed the instructions in your chat with ErnestoC from Google staff here for your question and got the same as you had. If you could do anything about this issue or tried the 29$ package and the support there helped you, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Ahmed
Actually, even buying the 29$ package is not available for me🙂
