Enable YouTube Content ID API

Hi everyone,

Currently my account is linked to a YouTube Content Partner account (as its Content Manager). I would like to develop internal app for our organization using YouTube Content ID API to extract data from the CMS. However, the API is not there to enable on Google Cloud's API services list.

According to this stackoverflow , it needs 7-14 days for the API to appear, but I cannot find any document mentioned about this so I am not sure.

Do I only have to wait now? Or how and who should I contact to enable the API faster, or ask for support in case the Content ID API still does not appear after 14 days?

Thanks and best regards,

Quan

Hi @Quan23,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

You would not find the YouTube Content ID API directly listed in the Google Cloud Console's API library because it's not a public API. It's an internal API meant for use by YouTube Content Partners and their authorized applications.

Instead of attempting to directly access the Content ID API through Google Cloud, you need to:

  1. How to Get Help: Google support the YouTube Data API on Stack Overflow. Google engineers monitor and answer questions with the youtube-api, youtube-data-api, and youtube-v3-api tags.
  2. Explore YouTube Data API v3 (if applicable): While the Content ID API itself is not public, some related data might be accessible through the YouTube Data API v3. This API is listed in Google Cloud Console and requires enabling. However, it's unlikely to provide the same level of detail as the internal Content ID API, and it may not cover all the data you need. Check the API documentation to see if the data you require is exposed. You would still need the appropriate YouTube Partner permissions to access the relevant information.
  3. File a bug report: To help Google Cloud engineers address this effectively, I'd strongly recommend filing a bug report directly through their Issue Tracker. However, I can’t give a specific date as to when this will be resolved.

I hope the above information is helpful.
