How to add an administrator to a Google Cloud organization account?

Hi Community !
I am not a Super or a regular administrator for our organization account, "Trulab.com".

But I am tasked with showing to our Super Administrator-->
how to add an administrator (me) to a Google Cloud organization account?

The steps I found online say:

  • sign in as a super administrator,
  • navigate to the IAM & Admin page,
  • select the organization,
  • and then grant the desired user the "Organization Administrator" role.

The problem is at the "select organization" step.
It only shows, "Organization Details ",
2025-03-21 12_49_42-Organization Details – IAM & Admin – trulab.com – Google Cloud console.png

and not another any other information regarding
"grant the desired user the "Organization Administrator" role."

Please advise.
Are there any available screenshots that show this process from start to finish as a “Super Administrator” ?

Thank you for your time and help !
Best Regards,
Donald

Hi @DCinNC,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

For the Super Administrator that Google Cloud account is associated with the correct organization (trulab.com), the next step should be to select the organization you're working with.

If the Super Admin only see Organization Details, you need to make sure that your account is properly associated with the correct organization. Verify that your account is listed under Admin roles in the organization settings.

Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to add an Organization Administrator:

  1. Sign in to the Google Cloud console as a Google Workspace or Cloud Identity super administrator and navigate to the IAM & Admin page:
Open the IAM & admin page
  2. Select the organization resource you want to edit:
    • Click the project drop-down list at the top of the page.
    • In the Select from dialog, click the organization drop-down list, and select the organization resource to which you want to add an Organization Administrator.
    • On the list that appears, click the organization resource to open its IAM Permissions page.
  3. Click Add, and then enter the email address of one or more users you want to set as Organization Administrators.
  4. In the Select a role drop-down list, select Resource Manager > Organization Administrator, and then click Save.
The Organization Administrator can do the following:
    • Take full control of the organization resource. Separation of responsibilities between Google Workspace or Cloud Identity super administrator and Google Cloud administrator is established.
    • Delegate responsibility over critical functions by assigning the relevant IAM roles.

Hi Diannemcm,  Thank you for your time and help with our query.  It looks like our organization setup is not completed.  Nonetheless, these instructions are very helpful and our Super Admin was able to make me an organizational admin to help setup billing for one of our projects.
Thanks again!
Best Regards,
Donald
