denied: Unauthenticated request. Unauthenticated requests do not have permission "artifactregistry.r

Hi 

I have been stuck with this error for couple of days and I gave all the permissions for Artifact Registry and repository to the service account.

Policy troubleshooter shows that service account has permission, I tried with key file or workload identity provider, I keep getting the same error. I still dont understand why.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

It seems that you have the right permissions but I’m going to share relevant documentation worth going through again just to make sure. It is best practice to see if you may have missed a step or two in setting up Artifact Registry:

• Configure authentication to remote repository upstreams 
• Configure authentication to Artifact Registry for Docker 
• Cannot push an image to Artifact Registry

I highly recommend using credential helpers to minimize authentication issues. Check out gcloud CLI credential helper and Standalone credential helper.

Now, I’ve also seen from other users the use of sudo. See this similar case for reference. It may be the same case for you or not so it’s an angle worth looking at.
