hello,
i'm trying to setup 30 days trial for Looker (Google Cloud core)
I've 3 Questions:
1) will I be charged during this trial period - how much ?
2) After 30 days, after the instance is automatically converted to Standard Looker (Google Cloud core) instance - what will be the pricing (even if it's use occasionally for learning purpose, before rest of people on the org are comfy to use it
3) Lastly, is it one 30-d Trial per GCP Project or per Google Account user ? if i've different client GCP, but all linked to my same Google Account email
Thanks,
Standard Looker pricing is $5k per month after trial ends. But you also need to factor in users:
https://cloud.google.com/looker/pricing
Something to worry about also is Looker would need to be running queries against things. So as an example if pointing to BigQuery then you have that usage and charges for that.
I think the trial is per Organization
I forgot there is a $1k per month discount this year for Looker standard. So after trial you get it for $4k per month until in year 2024 then discount goes away.
Thanks you @AaronRouse for responding.
so did I understand correct - during 30d Trial it's free to use ?
- no Platform fee
- no User fee
It wasn't very clear form the pricing page.. it just says "30-DAY TRIAL." or "trial instance", not "30-DAY FREE TRIAL." or "FREE trial instance",...
would be great to get official confirmation if trial is free or not
There is no charge for Looker for the 30 days. But using Looker against other GCP services could incur charges from those services, such as my example earlier about it pointing to BigQuery then queries against it will cause BigQuery charges.
I think this covers it pretty well:
https://cloud.google.com/looker/docs/looker-core-trial
But what is it that you ultimately are wanting to do in the 30 day trial period? Maybe understanding that could help those of us here to offer up help.
thank you for confirming no charge for Looker for the 30 days trial (this point is what was not very clear to me, reading the docs)
acknowledged, one may incur BQ costs or other Cloud services
