Discrepancy between Traffic by API and API Requests

As shown in the screenshots above there is a huge difference between the number of requests for a 30 day period and the traffic on a daily basis. (73/day vs 2,047,552 requests) 

What is my fundamental misunderstanding with these charts? I would assume it would be much higher per day to make up for the 2M requests.
