I couldn't see the embed option in Admin panel

We have embedded a looker dashboard to the production site recently. We have removed some of the users from looker since they are no longer part of our organization. We are unable to see the embed page in platform section in the admin page and we couldn't generate the SSO URL now. Is removing the users who has the admin privilage will lead to this issue? We have re-enabled access to those users and still we couldn't able to access the embed page. Anybody can help on this immediately!

But in the documentation, it is mentioned that the embed option is only visible in the admin panel if the embed version of Looker is enabled.

Thanks, @jangemmar . I raised this issue with the Looker team. It turns out that it was a bug on their end that caused the embed options to appear for both Looker Standard and Looker Enterprise Editions other than Embed Edition. They have recently fixed this bug, and as a result, the embed feature has been removed from both editions.

I appreciate the effort you put into addressing this question.

Hi @Tamil,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

I suppose you’re using the Embed Edition for Looker (Google Cloud Core). Based on the screenshot you provided, it seems like this specific user doesn’t have the capability to view the embed page.

Here are the possible causes on why you’re not able to see the embed page:

Cache and Permissions Delay: Even though you've re-enabled the users, Looker's internal cache and permission propagation might take some time to update fully.

Group Membership: The removed users might have belonged to a specific group that had access to manage embeds. Simply re-enabling them might not be enough if they were removed from that group.

Accidental Misconfiguration: It's possible that during the user removal process, a setting related to embedding or admin access to the embedded dashboard was unintentionally modified.

You can try by adding again this specific user with Developer (Admin) permission to test.

Once you’re able to see the embed page in the Admin panel, you can try to regenerate an SSO URL.

Note: Some browsers (Internet Explorer and Safari at the time of this writing) default to a cookie policy that blocks third-party cookies. Because Looker uses cookies for user authentication, attempting to authenticate the embedded iframe across domains is not possible in these browsers (unless you modify the browser’s cookie privacy settings).

I hope the above information is helpful.
