Looker Studio Pricing

Hello,

We were using Looker Studio free version with some reference tables that are stored in BigQuery.
When we want to load and see dashboards that we create, it costs nothing until the end of March 2023.
But if we load and see a dashboard that is connected to a view type of data, it costs the analysis amount of that view.

Now from the beginning of April 2023, all table connections cost as they are view when we reload a Looker Studio dashboard.

Is there anything changed about the Looker Studio free version data connection and cost policy?

Hi there,

Checking in to make sure you got an answer to this question! Yes, there has been a change to the Looker Studio free version data connection and cost policy. Starting on April 1, 2023, all table connections cost as they are viewed when you reload a Looker Studio dashboard. This means that even if you are only viewing a dashboard that is connected to a reference table, you will still be charged for the analysis amount of the view that the dashboard is connected to.

Previously, you were only charged for the analysis amount of a view if you were actually interacting with the view, such as filtering or sorting the data. However, with the new policy, you will be charged for the analysis amount of a view even if you are simply viewing it.

This change was made to ensure that all users of Looker Studio are charged fairly for the resources that they use. If you are concerned about the cost of using Looker Studio, you may want to consider upgrading to a paid plan. I'm happy to connect you with a team member to chat about your use case + needs.

Here is a table that summarizes the changes to the Looker Studio free version data connection and cost policy:

Before April 1, 2023 After April 1, 2023
Only charged for analysis amount of view if interacting with it Charged for analysis amount of view even if only viewing it
