The query exceeds BigQuery resource limits

I'm experiencing an entirely unexpected error and would appreciate any suggestions of how to proceed.

I've got a dataset in an on-demand BigQuery project that spans less than 10MB. I'm querying it from Looker Studio (free). Using custom queries to BigQuery from Looker, I've set up 9 data sources that are used across several visualizations on a single page.

Sometimes, the whole report processes and displays without issue. More often, at least one visualization will fail with a Data Set Configuration Error:

I've read through the quotas and I'm nowhere close to these values. Looking at the BigQuery monitoring for this project, each page load of the report triggers 25 concurrent jobs that collectively process between 8 and 15 MB taking at most 12 seconds to run and averaging closer to 7 seconds over the last several days.

In other words, these are very low resource queries and most of them produce an output spanning fewer than 10 records, so the error message simply doesn't make sense. And a quota increase won't help because my metrics are significantly below current quotas.

Does anyone have a sense of how to proceed in resolving this? I greatly appreciate your help!
