Universal Analytics 360 historical export to BigQuery

https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/3416092?hl=en#zippy=%2Cin-this-article

According to this article:

When you initially link an Analytics reporting view to BigQuery, Analytics exports 13 months or 10 billion hits (whichever is smaller) of historical data to BigQuery.

I have linked a view, followed all the steps outlined. Evidenced by getting the following emails:

However, all I see in BigQuery is the following:

Is this an error or will it take more time to export the historical data?

Thank you!

Hi @lkajtar according to the article you mentioned, when linking a Google Analytics view to BigQuery, it should export up to 13 months of historical data or 10 billion hits, whichever limit is reached first.

From the email you received, it seems the export was triggered successfully. However, the fact that you’re only seeing data starting from 06/26/24 in BigQuery could indicate one of the following:

1. Historical Data Export Still in Progress

The initial export of historical data may not be complete yet. Depending on the size of your dataset, it can take some time for all the data to populate in BigQuery. Try waiting a few more hours and check again.

2. Verifying Data with an external tool

If you’re using Windsor.ai in your data workflow, you can cross-check if the data is being ingested correctly into BigQuery by reviewing the connection settings in Windsor.ai. This tool provides extra flexibility and troubleshooting options for managing Google Analytics data exports.

3. Limited Data Availability in Your View

If the linked Google Analytics view doesn’t have 13 months of historical data available, or if factors like sampling or hit quotas apply, this could impact the export. Check the historical data available in the linked view to confirm.

4. Issues with Export Configuration

There might be a problem with how the export was configured—for example, permission issues or restrictions tied to the view. Double-check the permissions for the linked BigQuery project and ensure everything is properly set up.

5. Reaching Out to Support

If the issue persists and none of the above seem to resolve it, consider reaching out to Google Analytics support. They can investigate and confirm if there were any problems during the export process.

Good luck!
