Data Studio - GSheets vs SqlServer as "DB"

Hello all!
Right now, I'm using Google Sheets as datasource for my reports.. But some of them are quite slow (thre are a lot of lines inside these GSheets).

I'm wondering if the situation can be improved using a different Data Source, for example: I was thinking to connect SQL Server to Datastudio (some views). Do you think that the performance will increase?

Does a comparison table exist between the different solution/connector in terms of perfomance? I need some "objectives" data showing that it is better to go in this way, before to take this road 🙂

Spreadsheets aren't really databases and aren't recommended to be used as one. They are many excellent blog posts that compare spreadsheets vs databases.

Yes yes, I know that a spreasheet is not a DB.. 

Can you suggest me a good blog wiht a good comparision? 
To be honest, I searched, but I couldn't find anything satisfying
