Migrating to CloudSql: permission issues

Hello all,

We are slowly moving from MariaDB to Cloudsql, but are main problem remains....permissions/priviledges.

So I created a Mysql instance, and obviously I have a root user.

I create some databases, here I can choose collations, etc...but nothing about users.

I create some users, here I can choose some settings on password policy but nothing on limiting the user to certain databases.

So I installed and login to phpmyadmin, with the root user that I created when I created the instance, thinking this root user schould have the most privileges.

In phpmyadmin I go to user accounts and immediately I see " you do not have the priviledges to administrate the users!".

What I want to do here is limit certain users to certain databases.

How can I do this?

When googling this I find people installing all sorts of third-party software. This should not be that hard, I think.

Many thanks from saving me from permission-hell.

Greetings, j.

hi all,

I have the same issue....

Hello,

good to know we are not the only ones struggling with this. It would be great if anyone has any suggestions about this.

Hello All,

by now I have figured out that though I have only created one root user ( when setting up the instance in CloudSql ) I have 3 root users in phpmyadmin and I somehow end up being logged in in phpmyadmin with the wrong one. No idea yet as to why this  happens.

greetings, j.
