Have anybody experienced the case when PostgreSQL instance is stuck in "Under maintenance" state for hours (like 4 hours so far) after being Stopped and then requested Start again.
At this point it doesn't allow even to Delete the instance. Does anybody know what can be done in this case? As it seems like the only way is to buy support, but it kinda feels strange that I should buy a support for the case, when GCP doesn't allow me to even just remove the instance...
I've managed to replicate your concern however I didn't encounter any issues such as "under maintenance" state. Stopping and starting the instance that I created didn't show any errors or issues.
I've created two instances wherein deletion protection is enabled on one and disabled on the other. I've stopped and started both instances and encountered no issues.
With regards to instance deletion, please check if `Enable deletion protection` under `Data Protection` is unchecked in order to delete your instance. You can check the screenshots below for your reference:
I already saw the public issue tracker that you created. What we can do at this moment is to wait for the response from the Cloud SQL team in order to assist you properly. Resolution may take time as they are handling several cases. You can keep track of the status by checking the public issue tracker that you created once in a while.
