I'm using Cloud Build, and have some long-lasting itches where I think the product could be improved, and where I haven't found a work-around either.
I use Docker Compose intensively. It helps me keep the CI stack similar to the developer workflow, and some of the things (Firebase Emulator tests within Cloud Build) wouldn't even be possible without its help.
The perceived problem is refetching the same base images over and over. It's "only" 20..30% of the time spent in the runs, but it seems so unnecessary.. This only matters when I make changes to the CI side, and need to run the same run like 20 times a day, before getting it right...
Have some ideas how this could be helped. Kaniko and such I've of course seen, but those aren't applicable to using images from within Docker Compose.
I understand DC may be a niché, but it also offers so much more than just linear, one level Cloud Build does. If someone at Google is willing to have a look at the YAML I use, that would be neat.
