YouTube.Videos.update call doesn't work

I have a Youtube chanel that I use to test scripts  and code in my cloude project.

Now, I admit that my account has been catagorised as legacy because, my project went inactive for a while because I couldn't find a good enough freelancer to write the code I needed for an App Engine involving yt-dlp.

I gave up coding a long time ago. I am a system analyst and a project manager. I am also Microsoft certified SQL administrator and Exchange specialist. I used to write SQL code as well but a long time ago.
However, I know my way around and now that I have got some local developer, we are getting ready to start again.

However, I heard that gro-restriction was not working as it is supposed to.

I first tested the API explorer to add couple of regions to blocked regions one one of the videos on the channed and it returned with that JSON showing the blocked regions. But then the programmers told me that it was still not working.

So I wrote a couple of functions: in Google script: one to add blocked regions to a video on the channel and one to read the blocked regions.

Both functions ran fine but nothing was updated and the blocked lis remains empty.

I have had my channel authorised with the Youtube patners programs, had had my id confirmed and I am supposed to be able to geo-restrict a video on my channel but I neither have the option of the Studio desktop, nor can I do it using a script.

The yutube people don't know and they think that I don't understand how geo restriction works even though they can see that I don't have the option on the Youtube desktop. They say it might be a technical issue, to which my response was: No kidding, sort it out with your technical people.

I have had a look at my project desktop. There are no recommendations not carried our but there is a request for update but it doesn't work. It comes back with not having enough rights. So, I kept piling on rights until I just maked myself the owner. I know that this is not recommended but I thought I might get someone's attention and might receive an alert . But nothing.

Something is wrong and Google is not helping as usual. Even before giving myself owners rights, there was a strange tag saying excessive rights: below is a partial screenshot:

Can someone please help. I don't mind signing up for more than basic support and I have done it before but it never made any difference. They send you to Stack Overflow or Gitnub and I have already been there.

I am really don't know what else to do. I think they forgot about me.

Hi @Babak,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

Currently, the option to block videos in selected countries (geoblocking) is limited to the invited users with access to YouTube Studio Content Manager. Check out this guide on how to block videos in specific territories.

Based on the details provided above, you have the following:

  • YouTube Partners Programs (YPP)
  • Studio desktop - I’m guessing this means YouTube Studio Content Manager

Given this, make sure that you are using the account that received the invite when logging in. If the block country option is still not displayed, this could be a UI bug. I would recommend contacting below support channels to help resolve this behavior:

Their team has specialized expertise in diagnosing underlying problems. When contacting them, provide comprehensive details and include screenshots. This will enable them to fully understand and address your concerns.

Hope the above information helps.

I have heard so many stories about this that I just don't know what to do. Gemini pro-advance tells me that this feature is only allowed under certain situations which include number of views or being a corporation with above a certain level of turn over.

This to me, seems like one rule for the rich and famous and another for us the Plebs.

It is shocking but the help desk(s) keep telling me that given all the verifications ( involved sending them my residency ID, A member of YPP a Prime member), I should have the ablity to use Geo-blocking feature.

I am a developer, I just want to makes sure that the code works. The channel is private and unless the project is successful it will remain experimental for God's sake.
What happened to common sense? Can I say that my brother is a big shot banker and elevate my image to Youtube community above that of Plebiens?
Plebs used to get fed in Rome for free, we don't even get that.
