Looker embedded - Save as to a new folder

Looker embedded - Allow users to create a new folder inside thiers "My Folder" or "Group" folders while using the "save as" option.

Is there a way to create/move a dashboard to a new folder via Looker embedded?

Also have this question - can embed users with embed_save_shared_space permissions create a new folder within folders where they have Manage, Edit content access?

I thought this used to be possible but now it is not working.

I've been playing around with testing this exact thing in our embedded looks/dashboards today. I know it's been a long time since you originally posted, but hopefully others find this helpful if they come upon this question! 😀

It looks like giving the embed user the "manage_spaces" permission allows them to create, edit, and delete folders within ANY folder that they have "Manage Access, Edit" permissions. From my testing, it looks like they are not able to delete the shared folder itself, only sub-folders that had been created. I found that the "manage_spaces" permission also allowed them to Move content between folders for which they had the "Manage Access, Edit" permissions.

With the "manage_spaces" permission, I found that, for any folders where they only have "View" permissions, the Add Folder button is still visible in the bottom left corner, but is grayed out. They also could not save/edit/delete content in these folders where they only have "View" permissions.

As for the "embed_save_shared_space," I found that it only allows them to only create/save, edit, and delete content within those Shared folders that they have the "Manage Access, Edit" permissions. In my case, I found that this permission was redundant if they had the "manage_spaces" permission.

Lastly, I hope it goes without saying but, whatever permissions you do go with, you test all of this within your own embedded environment so that you fully understand what control your embedded users have and nothing gets in the wrong hands!

@mary_advocado were your users embed users, saving/moving content in the embed itself? We use a fairly vanilla iframe embed, curious if you have a different implementation.

I'll try testing again, previously when I had an embed user test they weren't able to do any creation of folders, editing of folders - they could create a new Look/dashboard and share it to an existing one, but not create a new one. TY for the heads up!

@christina_blake yes, embed users and also using iframe embed.

When viewing an embedded look or dashboard, there is a "Toggle Navigation" button that looks like a folder to access folders in the top right. Once you click that, it opens up the Folders menu to the right of your look/dashboard. In the bottom left of that of the folder navigation menu, you'll see a "Create New Folder" button, if you've given the embed user the "manage_spaces" permission.  As I mentioned in my previous post, "for any folders where they only have "View" permissions, the Add Folder button is still visible in the bottom left corner, but is grayed out." They must have the "Manage Access, Edit" permission for a folder to create new sub-folders within it.

It's also important to note that, you can't currently create the new folders from the save menu, but if you create them here, first, you will be able to save looks/dashboards to that new folder. Hope this helps!
