Questions regarding `times_used` of field usage

Hi community!
I noticed that the value of 'times_used' for some fields is always 0, even though I have actually used them as filters in dashboards. How does 'times_used' determine which fields to track and which not to track? Additionally, 'times_used' is not time-bound, right? It measures the accumulated usage count since the field was created, right?

I got an answer from Gemini. It says that `times_used` will only track fields that have been selected as dimensions or measures in a query. So, if a field is used as a filter only, it will never be counted. Does anyone happen to have knowledge of this and can confirm? Many thanks!
