Looker - Table viz column order resetting

Hi all,

I have a table (not legacy table) viz issue and I was wondering if anyone else had encountered it - or had any workarounds/explanations.  The table in question is not pivoted and has 60 columns, two of which are not dimensions (one measure, and one table calculation).

Any time I try to adjust the column order in the viz tab - it resets the change and both the measure and the table calc move to the far right hand side of the table - and I am unable to move them back to where they should be.
This happens regardless of whether or not I make a new viz from scratch and add all the columns myself, or try and edit the existing table.

I've investigated a bit and it only occurs when the table has more than 36 columns in it.

Thanks

Hi @sheepdip82 !

I am wondering if you are hitting some sort of bug, since you have so many columns. Based on the table chart vis documentation, you should be able to rearrange table columns in a visualization (not the Explore data table) in any way. It sounds like it's somehow mimicking the data table column order rules.

I suggest reaching out to support to open up an investigation and file a bug, and let them know your findings (thanks for testing the issue so thoroughly!)

I hope that is helpful!

Hello, I'm facing the same issue and it is quite annoying. I am using table calculations. I've had to regroup the columns manually each time I run the report. Has any solution been provided?

I'm afraid I did not find one.  I was able to set the column order (make sure it isn't a legacy table viz type) as long as I added the fields in the correct order, when I saved they stayed in the desired order.

Did you try freezing these columns on visual level so that after you refresh, you will see the ordered column only.

I found a different solution. I created a lookML dashboard and ordered the columns there.
