Google Data Studio Latency issue

I need your urgent help to address a significant latency issue that I have been experiencing with GCP Data Studio, which is severely impacting the efficiency and usability of the platform.

Over the past few months, I have been encountering persistent latency problems while using GCP Data Studio. The platform's response time has become unacceptably slow, causing delays in report generation, data visualization, and overall dashboard performance. This latency issue is affecting my ability to access, analyze, and share critical business insights in a timely manner.

The latency issue is having several detrimental effects on my workflow and operational efficiency:

Reports are taking much longer to load and refresh, hindering real-time decision-making.
Interactive dashboards are sluggish, making it difficult to interact with visualizations and filters effectively.
Collaborative efforts are hindered as sharing reports with colleagues and stakeholders results in a poor user experience due to extended load times.

Given the importance of timely data analysis and reporting for our business operations, I urge you to consider the urgency of resolving this issue. The current state of latency is inhibiting our ability to make informed decisions and respond to dynamic market conditions promptly.

Previous Steps Taken:
I have already undertaken the following steps in an attempt to address the latency issue:

Checked my internet connection to ensure it is stable and capable of handling the platform's requirements.
Cleared cache and cookies to rule out any local browser-related issues.
Tried accessing GCP Data Studio on different devices and browsers, but the latency problem persists across all.

I kindly request your immediate attention to this matter and ask that you take the necessary steps to diagnose and resolve the latency issue affecting GCP Data Studio. Timely data analysis is critical for our business operations, and the continued latency issue is causing significant disruption.

I would greatly appreciate your prompt response and resolution of this matter.

I understand that you're facing a critical latency issue with GCP Data Studio that's severely impacting your ability to efficiently generate reports, visualize data, and utilize the platform for timely decision-making. Latency problems can indeed hinder productivity and decision-making processes. Here are some steps you can consider taking to address the issue:

1. **Check Google Workspace Status Dashboard:**
Before assuming the issue is localized to your environment, check the Google Workspace Status Dashboard to see if there are any ongoing service disruptions or incidents that could be causing the latency.

2. **Contact GCP Support:**
If you have a GCP (Google Cloud Platform) support plan, I recommend reaching out to Google Cloud Support as soon as possible. They can provide direct assistance in diagnosing and resolving issues like this. They have tools and resources to analyze the problem at a deeper level.

3. **Review Data Studio Reports:**
Examine the complexity and size of your Data Studio reports. Very complex reports with a large amount of data or complex calculations might contribute to latency. Consider simplifying or optimizing your reports where possible.

4. **Check Data Sources:**
Slow performance might be related to the underlying data sources. Verify if the data sources you're using are optimized for query performance. Indexing, data structure, and query optimization in your source systems can have an impact on the speed of generating reports.

5. **Review Dashboard Visualizations:**
Some visualization types might be more resource-intensive than others. Consider if certain visualizations are causing the slow performance. Test different visualization types to see if the latency is consistent across all of them.

6. **Review Network Connectivity:**
While you've mentioned checking your internet connection, you might want to perform a more thorough network analysis to ensure there are no connectivity issues between your location and Google's services.

7. **Resource Utilization:**
If you're using shared resources (like virtual machines) that might be under heavy load, it could impact the performance of applications running on them. Ensure that the resources allocated to your machine are sufficient.

8. **Browser Extensions and Plugins:**
Disable any browser extensions or plugins that might interfere with the loading of web applications. Sometimes, these can introduce unexpected latency.

9. **Monitor CPU and Memory Usage:**
Use browser developer tools or system monitoring tools to check if the CPU or memory usage on your machine spikes significantly when using Data Studio. High usage could be a sign of a performance bottleneck.

10. **Update Browsers and Drivers:**
Ensure that you're using the latest version of your web browser and that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Outdated software can sometimes lead to compatibility issues.

11. **Engage with Data Studio Community:**
Visit the Data Studio Help Community. Other users might have experienced similar issues and could provide insights or solutions.

Given the urgency of your situation, contacting GCP Support and seeking their guidance would likely be the most efficient way to address this problem. They can offer tailored assistance based on the specifics of your setup and diagnose any potential platform-related issues that might be causing the latency.

Hi @mmanoharan

Thank you for reaching out to our community and I understand your frustration with Looker Studio (previously known as Data Studio).

I have checked our service health history and there are no reported issues under Looker  Studio. I suspect that the latency might be driven by your data source. To rule this out, kindly create a dummy report in Looker with lesser data or try to create a duplicate version of your current report but try to limit its data range say for only a week and see if the performance will improve.

Hope this helps.
