AutoUpgrade GKE - Release Notes

Hi,

My GKE cluster yesterday was at version 1.25.10-gke.2700 (stable channel) and is enabled for autoupgrade.

In the release notes (26 January) it's indicate that "Control planes and nodes with auto-upgrade enabled in the Stable channel will be upgraded from version 1.25 to version 1.26.10-gke.1101000 with this release" - https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine/docs/release-notes-stable

However, this evening my cluster updated to version 1.25.15-gke.1115000.

Why? Shouldn't the update have been for 1.26? When will it go to 1.26?

Thanks

Thanks for posting this.  A few things:

1) We need to update our release notes as we missed indicated that 1.25 clusters would be upgrade to 1.25.15-gke.1115000 in one of the earlier release notes
2) In general, it's can take 4-5 business days for a given release to rollout across all regions and only once it's available in a region would we start auto upgrades
3) Even once we start auto upgrades in a region, it can definitely take 1-2 weeks for the upgrade to rollout across the entire fleet of clusters
4) Do you buy chance have any maintenance windows / exclusions configured?

Also note that we will wait a minimum of 30 days between minor version upgrades as well.  So if you recently went from 1.24 -> 1.25, we would not upgrade your cluster(s) from 1.25 -> 1.26 for at least 30 days.

Hi, thanks for your response.

Yes, I have a maintenance window "From 1am to 5am UTC Daily".
Ok, so the cluster wasn't updated to 1.26 because there was an error in the release notes. I'm clear, thank you very much.

In the last 30 days the cluster has not updated from 1.24 to 1.25. Is there any estimate of when a release note indicating the upgrade from 1.25 to 1.26 will be released?

Regards.
