Should I migrate GKE images as part of the service from Container Registry to Artifact Registry?

Container Registry is deprecated (https://cloud.google.com/container-registry/docs/release-notes) and we should migrate our images to Artifact Registry, YES, but I wonder if Google provided images that are part of the SAAS (GKE) should be migrated or Google will manage that?

Example images:

  • kube-system/gke-metrics-agent
  • kube-system/kube-dns
  • kube-system/kube-proxy
  • kube-system/fluentbit-gke

Just to be sure 🙂
Thank you!

Hi @MarijanaM  -

All of the images that are part of the GKE distribution have been migrated to Artifact Registry.  There is nothing you need to do there.  You need only migrate your own images.
