Architecting printers on the cloud

I have a fulfillment center that prints images and ships out to customers. Today, everything is on prem. The application runs on windows server, the printers are configured on that server and connected to the VPN network.

Now I need to move the application to GCP GKE. So, the print request gets triggered from an app running on the GCP server. So how do I set the printer configurations? Do I still have a server on on-prem for printer configuration, and trigger it from GCP or, setup a print server VM on GCP and configure the printers on VPN network? or setup a printer service, install the printers on GKE workload and have them connect to the physical printer? or get some cloud printing service. Ours is a small team and we are struggling to find or reach to a conclusion. If someone could share a docs link/video or page, or help us with this it will be really helpful

Hi @abdulashikkhan,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

To connect your on-premise server to the instances and print from them, you must configure GCP's connectivity with your external services and resources. To do so, you have numerous alternatives from the Cloud Architecture Center as outlined here.

In circumstances that require architectural guidance or a new set up, the best alternative is to contact the TAM program (Technical Account Manager), who are experts in devising new setups that can fit your needs and expectations.

I hope the above information is helpful.
