Configure g2-standard-4 L4 GPU instance to run 1920x1080 without remote desktop

Hello,

I am having trouble trying to configure a g2-standard-4 L4 GPU instance to run on 1920x1080 without connecting remote desktop.

Without remoting the machine, it would only run at 1280, any idea what I should do?

Hi @MIC1 ,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

G2 machine series is available in standard machine types which are commonly used for running machine learning and data processing workloads. These GPUs are not ideal for tasks requiring a high-resolution display like 1920x1080 but can deliver up to 2.5X higher performance compared to the previous GPU generation.

These GPUs don't have a graphical user interface (GUI) environment. To configure the resolution, you likely need to connect via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or SSH and install the required graphics drivers and software. To create a VM with g2-standard-4 L4 GPU attached, you can follow this document. You can also make some customizations to your G2 VMs by using the Google Cloud CLI or REST.

For more information, you might also want to check the limitations of the G2 GPUs.

I hope this information is helpful.
