GCP VM dependent on own domain.com MX records

I have domain123.com over top my Google Cloud VM's and Google Workspace. I need to change the MX record to point email to a new non-Google host in an eventual migration out of Google Workspace (but not GCP). The domain123.com will still live on but is there anything within GCP that is dependent on having a @domain123.com email address? For example, if we're using outbound SMTP in one of the VM's does it require having a Google email address or MX record.
