GCR in direct mode

Hello.

Google Container Registry (GCR) is being depricated. Right now, I have it working in redirect mode.

After deprecation, will it continue to work in redirect mode or we need to move all our image URLs to Google Artifact Registry?

Thanks kindly.

Hi @Gopher1,

Before Google Container Registry (GCR) scheduled shut down happens on March 18, 2025, all services linked to Container Registry should still work as mentioned here, but you still need to copy all your images from Container Registry to Artifact Registry before the aforementioned date.

For more information, take note of what will occur once the shut down date occurs on March 18, 2025. Google Cloud strongly recommends migrating to Artifact Registry before the scheduled shut down posted in the documentation to avoid disruptions. For ease of process, you can also use our transition tooling.

Hope this helps.

hi @Gopher1
Artifact Registry AR provide the same space for container images as container registry, they have also insisted to use AR for storing of image after deprecation.

In order to use them you need to copy or migrate them to AR
