Image Tags Missing from GCR

We download images from the gcr.io/istio-testing/proxyv2 GCR repository. Certain image tags display in the GCR UI that are not found when querying the repository tag list:

Just a heads up, Google Container Registry is deprecated and scheduled for shutdown. It’s recommended to transition to Artifact Registry as soon as your workflow allows it. Artifact Registry provides the same container management features as Container Registry and includes additional features and benefits.

Missing image tags may be caused by:

• Exceeding Cloud Storage quotas and limits
• Errors during migration from a third-party registry
• Errors during pushing and pulling images

We’re also looking at a UI issue with image tags being truncated and not displayed on the Google Cloud Console. We don’t have an expected timeline for resolving the issue, however, an available workaround is to use Google Cloud CLI to manually list image tags to view the missing tags.

For now, I’d recommend filing an issue report on our public tracker. We may sometimes ask for more details, clarification, or a followup. After we're able to replicate the issue, we'll tell you that it's been forwarded to the appropriate team. Do note that there isn’t a specific timeframe for issue resolution. However, once we've fixed an issue in production, we'll indicate this and then we'll close the issue.
