Middleware, Web Application Server

Hi, I am college student researching about the middleware market: with a special focus on the Web Application Server (WAS). 

I have 2 questions to ask: 

1) whether Google Cloud has its own propriety WAS product (self-developed): and if so please provide me with the name. 

2) whether WAS products are included as a commodity in the purchase of PaaS.

Can you please elaborate more about your usecase? Could you please provide any link / example for the WAS product which might be helpful to understand it better?
