Migration from Federated to Google SAS

Hello all -

I'm new to the support mechanism here in the Google SAS so excuse any obvious blunders.. 😉

I work for a consulting/integration firm and have a client that is wanting to shift their SAS connection from Federated to Google and I'm looking for some assistance.  The easy part of this is that prior to working with us, they had "just" switched to Federated so they have a Google SAS account already active.

In looking into their Google account, I see a number of CBSDs listed, but obviously 'greyed out'.

So my questions are :

1. to prepare the account, do I go in and delete all  those entries so the account can repopulate with the current CBSDs?

2. In order to not get 'double billed' when should I cut them over so as not to get billed by Google and Federated for the same month?

I'm sure I have more questions, but let's start there!

Thanks in advance!

Barry

Hi Barry,

Great questions!

  1. Assuming that the installation parameters in the SAS Portal are still correct, there is no need to delete the existing CBSD configurations in the SAS Portal before re-registering the CBSDs with Google’s SAS. Depending on how the CBSDs are re-registered with the SAS, it will either use the information in the SAS Portal or it will overwrite it. Please see CBSD registration and deregistration in the online documentation for more details. Particular focus should be placed on sections outlining the differences between Single-step and Multistep registration. It may be worth deleting the CBSD configurations anyway, to ensure that there are no mistakes in the transition.
  2. Google’s SAS charges per registered CBSD, per day. Google's SAS will not be informed by Federated's SAS that the CBSDs are no longer registered with them until CPAS has occurred. Ideally, you would deregister your CBSDs from Federated’s SAS before midnight and then re-register them with Google’s SAS after the next CPAS.  This will minimize the downtime the CBSDs experience while ensuring that you are not charged by Google’s SAS for a day in which your CBSDs were registered to Federated’s SAS. Please reach out to Federated for instructions on how to minimize charges on their end.

James -

We made the switch from Federated to Google this weekend and to our knowledge, the outages, if any, were minimal.  The question we have  has to with the duplicate CBSD entries in the Google SAS Portal.  Every location has a "Site with 2 CBSDs" label in the column. We are using single-step registration (Telrad) for this network so I do see all of the entries from this last weekend.  I do however see the duplicate (old) entry that has the following information label in the CBSD config tab: "The new configuration must be signed by a CPI before the CBSD registers with the SAS" .

How do we go about bulk deleting all of the old CBSDs and cleaning up the portal?

Regards,

Barry
