Multi-region Filestore - sync data across multiple filestore instances, or a better alternative

The current filestore offerings aren't meeting our scalability requirements, and we wanted to make use of multiple filestore instances. Does GCP provide some way to horizontally scale filestore by spawning multiple instances of filestore and then syncing them? AWS's equivalent product  Elastic File System (EFS), provides multi-AZ resilience. Further, EFS also provides cross-region replication. Is there some equivalent solution in GCP for this? that is, to get multi-region file-server.

Hi @tarun360

There's a related feature request: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/124781731  that's still open.

Until that feature is available, would cross-region backups be an alternative that you can consider? See this blog: https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/storage-data-transfer/introducing-filestore-backups, and this documentation: https://cloud.google.com/filestore/docs/backups#what_is_a_backup
